005 - Yashu Sharma
Hi there, and welcome to another edition of Intake, the newsletter that brings you the most trusted media and information sources of your favorite founders, experts, and creators.
I want to start off this week’s edition by highlighting an interaction I had with an Intake reader on Twitter (aka X) this past week. This response perfectly summarizes why I decided to start this newsletter: there's too much "sketch" out there. What better way to find trustworthy resources than through a reference by someone you already trust?
Thanks for the response, @retrodraggin! I look forward to interacting with more of you on Twitter in the future. Follow Intake on Twitter → @readintake.
Now, let’s get into this week’s feature, Yashu Sharma.

Q/A
How do you determine whether a particular source or content creator is reliable and trustworthy?
”Being able to be self-critical and poke holes in their own thesis. Everyone has a bias, but trying to be self-aware about it is a key way I know if I can trust a source.”
How do you approach evaluating a company before investing in it?
”Talking at a high level, the first thing has to be a large TAM, ripe with growth. Then is the competency of the company and the ability for them to take market share. Lastly, but just as important is the executive team that will lead them to the promised land.”
Could you share some insights or tips for beginners who are interested in investing?
”The best possible investment you can make is not a stock. It’s investing in yourself. Buy that gym membership, get those books you’ve been recommended constantly. It’s funny how we can often spend money on these things a lot easier than betting on ourselves. We only grow as much as we strive to.”
How do you approach building and growing your personal brand as an online educator/content creator?
”I think authenticity is vital. With being yourself, comes sustainability of your content. If you try to play a character or put up a facade, you turn your passion into a job. My unique ability doesn’t stem from saying different or controversial things for attention - it’s from being who I am unapologetically and sharing my honest opinions.”
